Here is a list of essential webmaster tools that anyone involved with building and maintaining websites should be aware of. Listing these tools in no way is an endorsement as the best tool for any particular purpose.

• Speed Test - Test your internet connection speed. This speed test is tuned to measure residential broadband services up to 20 Mbps over HTTP.
• Image Optimizer - Optimize your gifs, animated gifs, jpgs, and pngs, so they load faster. You can also convert from one image type to another. The limit on the uploaded image size is: 300 kB.
• .htaccess Password Generator - Generate all the necessary codes needed to password protect a directory or selected files within it through .htaccess. It will encrypt the password and generate the corresponding codes to put inside your .htaccess and .htpasswd files.
• FavIcon Generator - Create a favicon (favorites icon) for your site, which is a 16x16 image that is shown inside the browser's location bar and bookmark menu when your site is accessed. It is a good way to brand your site and increase it's prominence in your visitor's bookmark menu.
• .htaccess Banning Generator - This tool will generate the appropriate .htaccess code to ban visitor(s) from your site based on their IP address.
• Check Page Rank - Use this tool to determine the current page rank and the age of a domain name.
